Tremont Triathlon - June 21st 2008
6/10 post: First let me introduce myself since this is my first post - I am a member of Tri Peoria....but by initiation fee only! hahaha I'll be sporting my fancy racesuit nonetheless. My name is James Nissen and this will be my first Tri...excited, but nervous.
I've been answering the "Are you ready" question with: I have no idea what ready is for this thing! Well, ready or not, it's 12 days away. I signed up 4 months ago and wow, does time fly when you bite off more than you can chew.
Anyway, I see a few of you have signed up, so that's pretty cool - so, if you see a guy in a Tri P suit that has no idea what he's doing - just say hey!
6/21 post: I finished my first Tri in 1:23.18. I think that is a respectable time, but you Tri-pros would know. Next up: Lakeland Bi-Tri in Canton, Illinois on 8/2/2008.
The swim today was exhausting "at best". Think I hit the wall 15 out of 16 lengths!. Waaay too much adrenaline at the start and was extremely fatigued at the 1/2 way mark. Pushed through and didn't need the breast stroke to make it! Happy about that.
Bike felt great and I was disappointed because I felt I left a little on the table.... intentional for the run. Run was avg. at best...9 min. pace. Was hoping for an 8:30 pace, but I'll take it.
I had an original goal of 1:45, and then changed that about 3 months ago to 1:30. Well, I did both, so I am pretty stoked about that! I have a pretty "stiff" baseline to shoot at....considering my next Tri is in "open water". YIKES!
